Housekeeping Assistant

Location: Royal Sussex County Hospital, Eastern Road, Brighton, BN2 5BE

This role offers both part-time hours (16:00 to 20:00, Monday to Friday) and full-time hours (07:30 to 15:45, 5 days a week between Monday and Sunday). As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness across designated hospital areas while strictly adhering to Infection Prevention and Control guidelines. You will act in accordance with the Trust's Values & Behaviours and deliver excellent service to patients, visitors, and staff.

Duties:

• Clean assigned areas such as corridors, offices, stairs, toilets, bathrooms, and patient bed spaces on a frequent basis.
• Adhere to Control of Infection & Prevention procedures, including using color-coded equipment.
• Comply with National Cleaning Standards and required cleaning frequencies.
• Remove rubbish and clinical/domestic waste from ward and department areas to designated collection points.
• Perform general floor scrubbing and floor maintenance using floor machines.
• Ensure the correct and safe use of chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.
• Maintain cleaning equipment in clean and good working order.

Requirements:

• A good level of general education, numeracy, and literacy.
• Educated to NVQ Level 1 Certificate in Cleaning and Support Services, or willing to obtain, or equivalent experience.
• A good standard of English for effective communication.
• Willingness to undertake mandatory training, including COSHH, Infection Control, and Manual Handling.
• Must have the right to work in the UK (the role does not meet criteria for visa sponsorship).
