About the role

Location: Brighton, BN2 4GJ, UK

Seeking a Student Voice Leader to act as a paid student partner within academic schools, supporting feedback analysis and improvement initiatives. The role offers approximately 25‑30 hours across the academic year with a flexible schedule that can be fitted around studies, including remote work and occasional in‑person meetings. The position involves collaboration with staff, attendance at training sessions, termly meetings, and creation of communication materials.

Duties:

  • Attend one training session with Brighton Students’ Union and University staff each term.
  • Work with SVL Co‑Chair to access feedback from feedback mechanisms.
  • Analyse feedback and prepare main topics with solutions for meetings.
  • Attend a school‑level agenda setting meeting to discuss trends in student feedback and select topics for the agenda of the school‑level voice forum.
  • Attend a school‑level Student Voice Forum (SSVF) per term to discuss trends in student feedback and propose ideas for improvement.
  • Attend a termly Eduthon with University Professional Services.
  • Work in partnership with staff to co‑create solutions and projects related to student feedback.
  • Create a termly blog or video to close the feedback loop by reporting on actions taken.
  • Promote Student Voice opportunities such as the NSS, Module Evaluation, Course Comment Boards and help other students understand how they can get involved.
  • Make personal operational decisions on a daily basis.
  • Provide feedback on small project funding requests or initiatives linked to student experience.
  • Conduct yourself in accordance with BSU values, adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Fully participate in induction, personal and team development opportunities.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably expected given the qualifications and experience required.

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in one of the specified courses (Certified Further Education and Skills, Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship, PROFGGCE Further Education and Skills, School Direct ITE - Salaried Route, Secondary Education Maths Teacher Degree Apprenticeship, Secondary Education Biology Teacher Degree Apprenticeship, Secondary Education Physics Teacher Degree Apprenticeship).
  • Ability to work flexibly across the academic year (25‑30 hours) and attend termly meetings and training sessions.
  • Strong communication skills for creating blogs or videos and promoting student voice opportunities.
  • Ability to analyse student feedback and collaborate with staff.
