Senior Healthcare Assistant

Location: Southlands Hospital, Shoreham-by-Sea, BN43 5YA, UK

This part-time role assists with the provision of Dermatology outpatient services within the Medicine Division at University Hospital Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. You will work as a member of the department assisting Registered Nurses and other health care professionals to carry out patient care. Please note that this position does not meet the minimum criteria for visa sponsorship.

Duties:

• Carry out assigned tasks involving direct care under the supervision of a qualified nurse
• Assist patients with their comfort, wellbeing, and anxieties pre and post-operatively
• Monitor and record patients vital signs, height, weight, and perform tests such as urinalysis and MRSA screening
• Prepare dressing/procedure trolleys, minor operation theatres, treatment rooms, and consulting rooms daily
• Assist medical and nursing staff with clinical procedures like skin biopsies and application of topical treatments
• Maintain clinical and non-clinical stock levels through ordering, storing, and rotating

Requirements:

• Essential NHS experience, NHS primary care experience, or acute hospital experience as an internationally educated nurse/midwife/doctor within recent years
• Care Certificate from an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation, or an international equivalent such as an overseas nursing degree
• Knowledge and skills equivalent to vocational qualification level 3
• Evidence of undertaking development to improve understanding of equalities issues
