Ward Catering Assistant

Location: Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital, Warren Road, Woodingdean, BN2 6DX

Seeking a Ward Catering Assistant to deliver nutritious meals to patients at Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital. The role involves 18 hrs/week across three days per week with shift times ranging from early mornings to evenings (7 am‑1 pm, 7:30 am‑1:30 pm, 1 pm‑9 pm or 2 pm‑8 pm).

Duties:

• Deliver a friendly, high-quality meal service to patients, ensuring dignity, care and excellent customer service.
• Prepare, assemble and serve patient meals accurately, including special dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and infection prevention in line with hospital and company policies.
• Complete food temperature checks, quality records and other required documentation accurately.
• Keep ward kitchens, catering equipment and work areas clean, safe and well stocked.
• Support stock rotation, waste reduction and the safe transportation of food trolleys.
• Work as part of a team, following instructions and helping with other catering duties as required.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a similar role or willingness to learn.
• A positive, reliable and caring approach, with a genuine desire to provide excellent service to patients.
• Good communication and listening skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
• The ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and work efficiently.
• A commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Good timekeeping, reliability and a flexible approach to supporting the team.
• A willingness to learn and complete required training, including maintaining mandatory standards.
• A Food Safety Level 2 certificate (or equivalent), or a willingness to achieve this.
