Phlebotomist

Location: Grand Ocean, Longridge Avenue, Saltdean, Brighton, BN2 8BU, UK

Seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join a friendly and supportive team at Saltdean & Rottingdean Medical Practice. This permanent, part-time role operates 25 hours per week, with shifts scheduled from 8:00am to 1:00pm, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will provide a safe, efficient, and patient-centred phlebotomy service, maintaining a calm and caring approach for all patients.

Duties:

• Take blood samples following authorised clinical requests and agreed practice protocols
• Confirm patient identity, obtain consent, explain the procedure, and reassure anxious or needle-phobic patients
• Label, store, and prepare specimens for collection by the daily pathology courier
• Record procedures accurately on SystmOne and escalate concerns to a registered clinician
• Maintain treatment room standards, check stock and equipment, and follow infection prevention procedures

Requirements:

• Evidence of recognised phlebotomy training and a current documented venepuncture competency assessment
• Recent experience of undertaking venepuncture safely and maintaining accurate clinical records
• Availability to work from 8:00am to 1:00pm, Monday to Friday
• Subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
