Performing Arts Production Assistant - Design and Wardrobe
Location: Brighton, UK
Seeking a Performing Arts Production Assistant - Design and Wardrobe to provide practical support across scenic construction, prop management, costume preparation, wardrobe operations, and production activities. This is a flexible, casual role on a zero-hour ad-hoc basis with hours allocated according to the operational needs of productions and events throughout the academic year. The position supports both the Head of Theatrical Design and Head of Wardrobe Design across Brighton College's Performing Arts programme.
Duties:
- Assist with the preparation, installation, operation, and strike of productions, examinations, and events
- Support scenic construction, set dressing, prop making, sourcing, and maintenance of scenery stores
- Support costume preparation, fittings, alterations, laundering, repair, inventory management, and act as a dresser during performances
- Assist with departmental administrative tasks, workspace maintenance, and moving production equipment across campus
Requirements:
- Practical hands-on experience or interest in theatre production, scenery, props, costume, and backstage operations
- Organised and dependable with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a busy environment
- Strong team player who is adaptable, proactive, and maintains a professional attitude
- Commitment to high standards, attention to detail, health and safety, customer service, and safeguarding standards
