Theatre Technician
Location: Brighton College, Brighton & Hove, UK
Seeking a Theatre Technician on an all-year-round zero-hours basis to provide technical expertise and support for all aspects of the College's performing arts provision. The role involves working collaboratively with the Performing Arts Team to support productions, rehearsals, assemblies, and events in the Richard Cairns Building. Hours are provided on an ad-hoc basis with specific availability discussed during the interview process.
Duties:
- Provide technical support for events, performances, assemblies, pupil lessons, and curriculum delivery.
- Support the rigging and operation of lighting, sound, AV, and stage equipment.
- Provide necessary theatrical resources to visiting users and take on duty manager shifts when required.
- Support the maintenance and repairs of technical equipment and source required props for productions.
Requirements:
- Formal technical theatre training or equivalent experience working within a technical theatre department.
- Good knowledge of lighting, sound, and staging equipment alongside technical theatre Health and Safety procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving, fault-finding, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Ability to work at heights and lift bulky or heavy lighting and technical equipment.
